K. Lalita [Ph.D. in Political Science] is an Indian feminist, activist, scholar, organizer, and writer with over 25 years experience. She was Founder-President, Progressive Organisation of Women (POW), the leading activist feminist organization in India in the 1970s. Later, she was Founder-Coordinator of Anveshi Research Centre for Women Studies, one of the best scholarly centres of its kind in India. She is Founder-Director of ThinkSoft Consultants, which over several decades has carried out many studies in the development process, and also gender impact assessment studies for national and international organizations and universities, including DfID of the UK, the World Bank, UNICEF, Christian Aid, among others. She also works with several other civil society initiatives.
As co-editor and writer, she has published: We were Making History,[Kali & Zed Press], a unique oral history of peasant women in struggle; Women Writing in India, Vols I & II, [Feminist Press, OUP, & Pandora]; the best known anthology of its kind; and a path-breaking book on women's health in Telugu. She has published several articles and papers in important journals, and other collections.
